     PC

  • Compo machine is probably a P4 3.0GHz with 512MB RAM, Radeon9800Pro with 256MB VRAM, and a Sound card.
  • For Windows demos we will use Windows XP with the latest service packs, DirectX version and non-beta graphics drivers. We will NOT install any drivers or virtual machines to provide or improve DOS compatibility, don't expect anything more than Mode13h and nosound if you really dare to submit a DOS demo.
  • For Linux demos we will use a then current SuSE Linux distribution with the latest XFree and graphics/sound/3d drivers. We will NOT install any obscure libraries or self-compiled kernels, be prepared that your entries have to run on an out-of-the-box linux without any additional downloads.
  • You will have to state which graphics hardware your demo/intro is compatible to on the submission form ("Compatibility Chart"). Please do so truthfully.
  • Pressing either ESC or Alt-F4 has to end the demo instantly.
  • The entry has to be delivered as single .zip, .rar or .tar.gz file.
  • Maximum resolution is 1024x768 pixels.
  • If you have no experience on how to make demos look good on the bigscreen, we strongly suggest reading this article by kb/farbrausch.
  • Java and .NET is not allowed in the intro compos; you may submit a Java/.NET demo, though. (We'll try to have a current JDK/.NET runtime installed, but having an install-version available if you submit such an entry would be a good idea anyway :).
  • We thought we'd made it clearly already, but since it again happened last year, please note that Flash entries do not belong into this competition and will be instantly disqualified. Please submit them to the Animation/Video competition, where they belong.

If you have questions or suggestions about these rules, contact the organizers at .

     demo

  • Maximum size is 14MB zipped/rared for ALL files (including readmes etc)
  • Maximum running time: 15 minutes - please try to keep under 10 minutes if you can though!
  • Java and .NET entries are allowed.

     64k intro

  • Maximum size is 65536 bytes unzipped. The production must be a single file (additional infofiles and readmes are ok, of course). All files except the executable will be deleted in the competition.
  • Maximum running time: 10 minutes.
  • Java and .NET entries are not allowed.

     4k intro

  • Maximum size is 4096 bytes unzipped. The production must be a single file (additional infofiles and readmes are ok, of course). All files except the executable will be deleted in the competition.
  • Maximum running time: 5 minutes.
  • It is okay to deliver bigger versions of the 4k along with the compo version (which must be <=4096 bytes) in the same .ZIP file. We will not show the bigger version in the compo. If your packer doesn't work on the compo machine, it's your problem. We will be able to provide you with details about the compo machine, though.
  • Java and .NET entries are not allowed.
