- The compo machine used will be a Pentium 955EE (Dual Core) 3.46GHz with 2048MB RAM and an ATI Radeon X1900XT with 512MB of VRAM.
- We will use Windows XP with Service Pack 2, DirectX 9.0c (December 2005) and then-current graphics card drivers (we will exactly specify which version 2 weeks before the party). We will NOT install any drivers or virtual machines to provide or improve DOS compatibility, don't expect anything more than Mode13h and nosound if you really dare to submit a DOS demo.
- No Linux entries. We had very few Linux entries in the last 4 years; installing Linux on the compo machines simply isn't worth it if there's just a single entry.
- As it has been requested several times for this year, Java/.NET entries are allowed in the Demo compo again (they weren't in an earlier version of the rules).
- You will have to state which graphics hardware your demo/intro is compatible to on the submission form ("Compatibility Chart"). Please do so truthfully.
- Pressing either ESC or Alt-F4 has to end the demo instantly.
- The entry has to be delivered as single .zip or .rar file.
- Maximum resolution is 1024x768 pixels.
- DirectX 9.0c (December 2005) runtime is available here (web installer) and here (full download) (contains, among other things, d3dx9_24.dll to d3dx9_28.dll).
- If you have no experience on how to make demos look good on the bigscreen, we strongly suggest reading this article by kb/farbrausch.
