· breakpoint 2007: demoscene through time and space

Welcome to Breakpoint 2007, the fith anniversary of the world's biggest pure demoscene event. 1000 creative participants from more than 30 nations are expected to once again gather in the beautiful town of Bingen am Rhein, Germany, from the 6th to the 9th of April 2007 (Easter weekend), enjoying 4 days of round-the-clock acitivity in arts, technology and international socializing.

In case you've never been to a demoparty before, have a look at our New Visitors section now - else read on.

For 2007 our party theme will take you to a journey through the time and space of the demoscene - we'll go back to the very roots of our community, bringing lots of features and competitions for oldschool hardware platforms, and will have a look at how the scene has progressed from back the stone age until today. And while we are at it, we'll take a glimpse of the future, trying to raise tomorrows scene standards once again.

Everything that has made Breakpoint the most beloved party in our scene during the last 4 years will remain - we'll make sure to give you the very best possibly party experience. Tons of competitions for each and every taste, the biggest choice of excellent food ever seen on a demoparty, extremely cool music liveacts to dance to, a seperate beer/party-tent, a meadow with a warming bonfire for long outside nights... everything a scener could wish for.

Due to the enormous success and overcrowdings of the Breakpoint seminar tracks in recent years, we'll again extend on those. Breakpoint 2007 for the first time will feature a seperate hall for those - the abdonded city swimming hall located on the party area - enjoy the top seminar speakers from the demoscene, the game development community and the scientific world, sharing their knowledge and insights with you inside a massive swimming pool.

So - don't miss the party event of the year, visit Breakpoint 2007 and register now. Any questions left? Join the IRCNet channel #breakpoint, or contact the organizing team by mailing to our hotline mail address: .

Press Play on Tape Breakpoint 2007 Concert Video available

Thanks to Breakpoint Organizer Zolo (and the recording team), we've now got a nifty gift for you: A full 1:48 hours video of the live concert the C64 revival band Press Play on Tape has held at Breakpoint 2007. Due to the enormous filesize (1.2GB XVID AVI), we are offering this download as a torrent (What's this?). Download PPOT video torrent.

(And in case you are absolutely unable to use the torrent, you may alternatively fetch the video by HTTP or FTP here)

Okay guys, we'll happily add links to party reports and photos here (just mail them to us), but also consider mailing your photos in a .ZIP file with descriptions in a .TXT to slengpung (staff AT slengpung DOT com) so there's a nice big archive of breakpoint photos instead of 20 small ones :)

Some more updates to the release archive: The 3 previously missing Amiga releases (two 64ks and one demo) have been added to the release archive now.

Couple of binaries still missing from the Console/Real Wild compo and of course some videos (that we're still cutting...) and we're done.

We've just found out that the Executable Music (Oldschool) entry "8580 in Confusion" by Sonic of Smash Designs (placed 3rd in the compo) is a re-release of a tune from 2001, in clear violation of the compo rules. It has been disqualified, we will get the compo prizes back (has already been arranged) and will send them to the new 3rd place, "Katana Runner" by ilmarque/wAMMA, as soon as we get them back. Sonics tune has been removed from the Results and our archives.

Similarly, Nutman/IRISes entry to the Executable Music (Newschool) compo, "Paschip5", which ranked 4th, was apparently a re-release aswell. It has also been removed from the results file and the release archive.

In less disturbing news, the updated results file also lists the platforms for all Console/Real wild entries.

The first batch of party videos (Seminars, BASS concert, opening, fun compo) are now available in form of bittorrent files. If you wish to download videos, please use these torrents, not the overloaded FTP mirrors. If you don't own a bittorrent client yet, try µTorrent.

Ok, most of the stuff is up now.

Still missing some release archives on the FTP (oops). Sorry for the screw-up, we're working on it.

The seminars are up already (on the main ftp anyway) and so are the videos from the opening ceremony, the BASS concert and the Vista Speech Coding funcompo. Other videos (including the PPOT concert and the bandwidth funcompo) will be added soon.

Thanks to all of our visitors for a truly AWESOME party, and hope to see you all again next year!

Okay, the party is over and we are busy cleaning up the party place.

Results are up and so are some of the releases. We're uploading at full speed from the party place, but we only got 4 MBit upstream from here, so this is gonna take a while...

Expect more updates soon :)
